  1. guys educate yourself, your sentiments are good but thre are larger issues, farming has to be made profitable, that needs ,connecting the famers to credit, knowledge onfarming practices, now you guys need to focus on making these faciities available to the farmers…..instead of wasting energies on nonissues…

  2. Is it possible to start an NGO and try to connect, sincerely, the farmers to enthusiastic scientists? The reason for this question is based on my personal experience. No body can easily meet a local Ag officer, get the questions answered correctly and get timely management of crops done—People think that more one applies urea, more is the yield. Nobody sincerely talks to them about pest and fertilizer management, effect of environment on crop physiology etc. I met some very good farmers about twenty years ago, who had a lot of common sense and deeper understanding for Agriculture, despite not being educated—They have become a rare species now.

  3. We tried this and Centre for Sustainable Agriculture is born like that six years back. We could establish a Community Managed Sustainable Agriculture model in colloboration with AP state govt and women self groups in more than 10 lakh acres. But as you said department of agriculture is still a block. i think we need to deschool the society, completely revamp the systems without which change will not happen.
